Rules and Mechanics

1. Interested individuals or groups may choose to join any one or both of the two categories:

  • Short Film
  • Music Video 

 

2. The following entry requirements must be met before deadline:

  • Machinima entry (uploaded according to specs)
    • Must have been produced not earlier than January 2009. We accept entries that have been submitted to other machinima film festivals.
  • Foreign-language machinimas must have English subtitles/dubbed in English
  • Running time must not exceed fifteen (15) to twenty (20) minutes
  • A completed registration/entry form
  • A synopsis of the work (maximum of 200 words)
  • At least two (2) high-resolution screenshots of the entry in JPG format

 

3. Entry for Best E-Games Machinima can only contain content from games published by E-Games. Entries can either be a Short Film or a Music Video.

 

4. After registering, entries can be submitted via:

  • mail a DVD copy of entry to the Cinemanila Film Festival office:

Submission of entries extended from October 5, 2009 to October 11, 2009.

 

4. Entries will be posted on the official website from October 12, 2009 6PM to October 16, 2009, when people can view the entries and vote the entry of their choice.

Voting Process:

To vote, viewers must first register on the official website. They may then vote as many times as they want to within the voting period: October 12, 2009 to October 16, 2009. 

 

5. The 3 entries from each category that garnered the highest votes will be shortlisted as Finalists for the Cinemanila Machinima Film Festival and will be announced on the official website on October 17, 2009.

 

6. Shortlisted entries will be required to submit a high-quality version of the work. This format should comply to broadcast NTSC resolution of 720 x 480 in a digital format (AVI/MOV with DV codec or MPEG2).

 

7. Finals and Awarding

  • Selection of Final Winners:
    • The FINAL WINNERS will be judged based on creativity, technicality and execution, as deliberated by a jury (comprised of members of the game, media and film industries), and the number of audience votes.
  • The Awarding:
    • The awarding will be done on October 20, 2009.


The awardees will be the following:

  • Best Short Machinima
  • Best Machinima Music Video
  • Audience Choice for the Short Category
  • Audience Choice for the Music Video Category
  • Best E-Games Machinima Short Category

 

8. An entry should not exhibit obscene and pornographic materials:

Obscene shall refer to any material or act that is indecent, erotic, lewd or offensive, or contrary to morals, good customs or religious beliefs, principles or doctrines, or to any material or act that tends to corrupt or deprive the human mind, or is calculated to excite impure imagination or arouse prurient interest, or is unfit to be seen or heard, or which violates the proprieties of language or behavior, regardless of the motive of the author of such act or material.

 

9. All soundtracks or audio effects in the entry are recommended to be original works of the entrant. If music is from a third party, the entrant must obtain permission from the artist.
